Watch: Paraphilic and Compulsive Sexual Disorders: Separating Fact from Fiction

On November 17th, Cheryl Roberts, Executive Director of the Greenburger Center moderated a conversation with three experts in compulsive sexual and paraphilic disorders: Dr. Ken Rosenberg, MD, Dr. Richard Krueger, MD and Dr. Meg Kaplan PhD. The panelist explored issues including, what is paraphilic vs a compulsive sexual disorder? Is either disorder considered a mental illness and can people living with these conditions be treated? What happens when a person engages in criminal behavior as the result of the uncontrolled symptoms of these disorders and is chemical castration ever appropriate? Is it possible to divert from the criminal justice system someone accused of a sexual offense? And, following incarceration, can people accused of sexual offenses safely reintegrate into the community? The Greenburger Center will moderate a second convesations with these experts in Feburary 2022. Details to follow.

Previously in her career, Roberts was a town judge from Columbia County, New York and served as a counsel to committees in both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate.
